Top Ten Books I HAVE to Read!

Today's Top Ten Tuesday is:

Top Ten Books People Have Been Telling Me I MUST Read

  1. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak - Okay, so I've gotten past the first step. I now own this book (I got it from PaperbackSwap not too long ago). I have heard so much raving about this book - and now there's even a movie. I know I need to read it! I will - I promise.
  2. The Giver by Lois Lowry - I could practically copy word for word what I just wrote about The Book Thief here (even the part about just getting it from PaperbackSwap!). I honestly don't know how I've gone so long without reading these books. It's just worked out that way somehow.
  3. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen - I think this is the classic that I see mentioned most often on people's blogs and I have yet to read it. At least I think so. I feel like I should have read this one in high school, but if I did, I don't remember it so ... Anyway, I just recently signed up for a blog tour for Finding Mr. Darcy: High School Edition mostly so that I would be motivated to read Pride and Prejudice first.  So this one will be read soon!
  4. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo - I've seen this book everywhere and it looks like the type of book I'd love.  But somehow I just haven't picked it up yet. Someday ...
  5. Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein - This is another one that I see mentioned ALL THE TIME. For some reason, it just hasn't really ever appealed to me, but I think I'm being slowly won over. Eventually, I'm sure I'll read this one.
  6. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas - Everyone raves about this series. The line at BEA for Maas' latest book must have been two miles long and I think I was the only one who wasn't in it. I know I'll love this series, but I just haven't gotten to it yet.  But I will!
  7. The rest of the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer - I finally got around to reading Cinder, but I haven't read the rest of the books in this series yet.  I loved Cinder, though, so I'm definitely planning on catching up!
  8. The rest of the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare - Again, I finally started this series a couple of months ago, but I haven't gotten past City of Bones. I really enjoyed it, but there are just so many books to read!!
  9. Anything by Rainbow Rowell - I recently read my first Rainbow Rowell book - Landline - and loved it!  But there are so many other books that I still haven't read, and they all seem to be almost universally loved. I can't decide which one to read next. Suggestions?
  10. Anything by Maggie Stiefvater - I have no idea why I haven't read anything by Stiefvater yet. Her books are right up my alley and people seem to absolutely love them. Soon. Very soon.

The Giver is amazing! I read it when I was in grade school and it got me interested in dystopian fiction :)
I think you will love it :)

Yes, I plan to have my kids read The Giver with me!
I have definitely been pushed to read a good chunk of these books too. I haven't read anything by Maggie yet either... but I got some books signed by her because she was in town and I'm planning on participating in a readathon for the Raven Boys series, which I think is coming up soon! As for Rainbow Rowell, I haven't read Landline yet, but I just finished Attachments and it was WONDERFUL! So I'm hoping to get a hold of Landline asap!

OOh those are all good recs. Especially to finish up the series where you've already enjoyed earlier books :)
I get the Rainbow Rowell recommendations all the time. I'm going to read her books, soon! The Giver is one of the only books on your list I've read. I have to say I really enjoyed it. I'm a little disappointed (as expected) that the movie seems so different but oh well. I hope you get to read these soon! :)
Oh yes! I completely forgot about Fangirl, but I've received a few recommendations for that one as well. Great list! I'm glad to see that I've read some of them. Thanks for stopping by my blog! :)
Nice! Scarlet made my list too! Yay for us! I tried Throne of Glass and it's also on my list but I just didn't get into it like I had hoped. So I gave it up. And so odd, I was thinking of trying The Giver, but am still hesitant for some reason!

Here's my Tuesday Post

Have a GREAT day!

Oh man, there are so many books on this list that I absolutely adore! Of all these, I think The Giver is probably the quickest read. Seriously, you could get through the whole thing in about three hours. The Shadow and Bone trilogy is one of my favorites, so I definitely recommend that one, too. Just in case it hasn't been recommended to you enough. :)

I have read almost everything on this list, and yes, you really need to read them! I am especially partial to The Book Thief and Throne of Glass. And read the rest of Rainbow Rowell, but not too fast or you will be like the rest of us and not have any more Rainbow Rowell, which is just sad.

From your list I read Pride and prejudice, TMI, Shadow and bone, Throne of glass, Attachments by Rainbow Rowell and Shiver series by Maggie Stiefvater.. and I loved them all so I hope you read them :) I still havent gotten around to the rest of the Lunar chronicles, other books by Rowell and Stiefvater but they are definetly on my tbr list.

See, everyone's read these but me! I definitely plan to get to them all eventually!
At the recommendation of a friend, I read The Giver this past Sunday. Love it, love it, love it! Will not see the movie as I think it will ruin the memory of the story in my head. What a great writer Ms. Lowry is. What she does in telling this story...man, maybe I'll someday be able to write as she does. Know I have to read her other works.
I've seen Rainbow Rowell on so many lists (including mine) and I thought I was the only person who hadn't read her books! The Book Thief is my favourite book of all time so I recommend that with great bias. Pride & Prejudice and Shadow & Bone are also amazing books so I definitely suggest giving those a go if you can!

Yes, I think Fangirl is top of my list of Rowell books to read next. It sounds fantastic!
