Waiting On Wednesday - Cruel Beauty

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights the upcoming releases that we're most looking forward to.  Here are my picks - books that are coming out soon!

This book has gotten rave reviews (some people have said it's the best book they've read all year!).  I requested it from Edelwieiss and am crossing my fingers that I won't have to wait until January to read it!

Release date: January 28th, 2014

Graceling meets Beauty and the Beast in this sweeping fantasy about one girl's journey to fulfill her destiny and the monster who gets in her way-by stealing her heart.

Based on the classic fairy tale Beauty and the Beast, Cruel Beauty is a dazzling love story about our deepest desires and their power to change our destiny.

Since birth, Nyx has been betrothed to the evil ruler of her kingdom-all because of a foolish bargain struck by her father. And since birth, she has been in training to kill him.

With no choice but to fulfill her duty, Nyx resents her family for never trying to save her and hates herself for wanting to escape her fate. Still, on her seventeenth birthday, Nyx abandons everything she's ever known to marry the all-powerful, immortal Ignifex. Her plan? Seduce him, destroy his enchanted castle, and break the nine-hundred-year-old curse he put on her people.

But Ignifex is not at all what Nyx expected. The strangely charming lord beguiles her, and his castle-a shifting maze of magical rooms-enthralls her.

As Nyx searches for a way to free her homeland by uncovering Ignifex's secrets, she finds herself unwillingly drawn to him. Even if she could bring herself to love her sworn enemy, how can she refuse her duty to kill him? With time running out, Nyx must decide what is more important: the future of her kingdom, or the man she was never supposed to love.

I know, when I read about this, I knew I NEEDED to read it!
I really loved Beauty and the Beast Disney movie when I watched it over and over with my kids way back when, and then my grandkids. I love that Belle is a biblio-fanatic and very smart. Thank goodness for a movie character that shows intelligent girls reading books! I think this might be a very fun read. Thanks for pointing it out.

Beauty and the Beast was my FAVORITE movie when I was a kid (well, I was in high school, but that still counts, right?). I still love watching it with my kids today!

I have to confess that I've never read the original Beauty and the Beast fairy tale, but I LOVE the Disney movie!!
I like the cover for this one and the concept. I'd like to see some reviews of it before I add it to my TBR list though!

Thanks for stopping by my WOW earlier!

Yes, I'd definitely check out the reviews. I read a review of it recently and then went and checked out the others on Goodreads - seems like most people are loving it!
This sounds awesome !! Totally listing it!

Yes, this seems right up your alley. Didn't you recently do a post on one of the original Beauty and the Beast books?
