Feature & Follow Friday - Convince Your Friends!

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! This is a blog hop that allows bloggers to gain new followers and find some awesome new blogs to follow themselves!

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host has a blog that they feature each week!

So, if you're a blogger, come join in on the fun!

Here's today's question -

Question of the Week: Have you ever convinced someone to read a book, a series, or a whole genre? What book(s) and who was it? Did they like it?

My husband doesn't read books. At all. But I have convinced him to listen to some audiobooks. The first one I ever got him to listen to was The Hunger Games.  He listened to all three books and really loved them! He also really loved The Fifth Wave. If I read an action-oriented dystopian, I often recommend it to him - then we can finally talk books!

I have three copies of On the Jellicoe Road that I once lent to three of my cousins to read. One loved it, the other couldn't get past chapter one. I was ready to disown her at this point. Lol.

I always get so nervous when I recommend books to people - you'd think I was the author! I have read Jellicoe Road yet, but I keep seeing more and more about it. I need to move that up to the top of my TBR.
Oh nice! I looooved The 5th Wave! Wasn't sure I would but then I read reviews and bought it and then finally read it earlier this year! Yeah, totally loved it!

Here's my Follow Friday

Yeah, I really loved it and thought my husband would too. I was definitely right!
Our book club encourages reading just about EVERYTHING! We vote on monthly group reads to discuss. Sometimes we hate 'em; sometimes we love 'em. The most important thing is to have fun, right?

I've been trying to expand my horizons a bit lately too. I get stuck in the paranormal/dystopian/fantasy genres, but it's nice to branch out!
Okay, you're going to think I'm crazy, but I went over to your most recent post to comment back and I can't figure out how to comment! No comment box or link shows up! What am I missing?
Never mind - I found the link! Don't know why I didn't see it at first!
Whatever works - glad he liked them. I'm an existing follower on Bloglovin'.

Me too! I'm so glad we can actually talk about books that way!
I have recommended books to people, but I am always afraid of what they are going to think of them. Not every book is for everyone, but If I love them, I have to tell the world..hehehe!

Yes, I always worry about that too. You'd think I wrote the book for how nervous I am when I recommend one!
That's a strategy I hadn't thought of! My husband won't read either.
I'm going to make sure I'm a follower. If you have a button, I'll grab it for my site.

Yes, audiobooks are the way to go when your family members refuse to read!
I haven't really gotten into audiobooks yet, but I have a feeling I'll get there. Haven't heard of The Fifth Wave but it sounds good. One of the reasons I don't really like recommending books is because I don't want to deal with them potentially not liking it! I'm an old GFC and Bloglovin' follower! Thanks for sharing :) I hope you had a great weekend!

Yes, I get nervous when I recommend books to other people too. You just want them to like them SO much! :-)
I have recommended tons of books to a variety of people. Usually I am able to gauge what they prefer in books, and then I recommend a specific one. I got several of my cousins hooked on historical romances by Sarah M. Eden, Julianne Donaldson, and Donna Hatch. It's fun to be able to discuss how much we love them!
