The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host has a blog that they feature each week!

So, if you're a blogger, come join in on the fun!

Here's today's question -

Q: How do you handle a book you don’t like? Do you DNF or do you power through?

It used to be that I could never DNF a book.  It just isn't in my DNA to quit on a book.  But, just recently I did DNF a book that I was supposed to review and it felt kind of good to let it go.  I mean, why spend my time torturing myself with a book that I am really not interested in when there are so many really GOOD books out there.  I think I might start DNF'ing a little more often.

Still, there have only been maybe two or three books that I've ever DNF'd.  I really try to give a book a chance to get better!

Yeah, DNFing for me wasn't really an option. Then the TBR pile came in and continued to grow, not shrink and I realized, I can't spend time on a book if I am not loving it within the first 100 pages or so.

Sometimes I still try to read through, but if there's one that really has me dragging my heels, I will DNF it.

Here's my Follow Friday

Have a GREAT weekend!

Yes, I usually really try to get through a book I'm not loving, but sometimes you just can't do it!
Usually I will give a book 50-100 pages before I DNF if I'm not enjoying it. I used to power through but I no longer have the time and it turned reading into a chore. There are too many books on my tbr pile for me to feel guilty and I'm picky about what I read, so only have 1 DNF so far!

That's exactly how I feel - when reading is a chore instead of something I enjoy, I know that something's wrong!
I always push through books in case something better is waiting in the end! I'm a bloglovin follower. :b

I always used to be that way, but I'm just recently having a change of heart. I can definitely relate, though!
I still push through books if I paid for them, so I can feel like I got my money's worth. But if it's a borrowed book, I'm much more likely to DNF if it doesn't grab me by the 100 page mark.

I agree, I don't like to DNF but I've done it and probably will again. I usually like what I read though so it's not too big a problem, thankfully. Have a good day!
I agree with Abria, if I've paid for it, I have to finish it. Saying that though I have bought books that just go onto my shelf that I still haven't read...Years later. But I will one day!!!

As for books that I get from NetGalley, or review for the few indie authors that have asked me to review their book, if I'm not enjoying it... I give it 30% of the book, I skip to the ending and see what all the fuss was about. And then if it's NetGalley, I say i skipped the book, but if it's an indie author I email them first and ask them if they still want me to review their book. So far they haven't.

I do hate skipping or not finishing, but reading shouldn't be a chore, it should be joyous, lol.
